A lot of things spawned from 2016, one of them being the skincare movement. I attribute this to Glossier’s skincare first, makeup second tagline that offers an alternative to wearing heavy makeup in order to achieve flawless skin. I first stumbled across Glossier via sortofobsessed’s Instagram, an account dedicated to reviewing and documenting different skincare companies. Noticing that Glossier was featured a lot, I checked it out and was immediately sucked in by the brands photogenic pink and white packaging. Unfortunately, Glossier only ships to the United States and Puerto Rico so I wasn’t able to impulse buy. However, lets just say I know a girl, who knows a girl, that knows a girl that could deliver it to me in Australia (I actually just used a mailing service my dad recommended).
As much as I’m excited about using these products, I am hoping that by the time I have ran out shipping is available worldwide. At least my bank account is safe for now though.
Milk Jelly Cleanser
The premise of having milk & jelly in the name of this product immediately interested me. After using it for a couple of weeks I’ve come to really appreciate it in my skincare routine, especially in the morning when my skin feels dry and flat. I’ll definitely be keeping this in my routine until I run out of the product.
Rose Flavoured Balm Dotcom
This is probably my favourite product purchased from Glossier. Not only is the packaging super cute and convenient to carry in a small purse, it makes my lips feel very hydrated and appear larger. Under the instruction that it can be applied anywhere, I tested this by applying it under my eyes as this is a problem area for me. The balm worked unlike other moisturizes that have promised otherwise, making it a miracle worker in my opinion.
Of the 4 different flavours (mint, coconut, cherry & rose), I went with rose for the smell and subtle pink tint it offers to the lips. However, I’d definitely look at getting the other three if/when Glossier ships worldwide.
Boy Brow in Clear
So far, so good. I’ve never touched my brows before as I’ve always been too scared. I have lighter coloured brows due to my red hair and I have a slight fear that I’ll over pencil them in. The boy brow in clear simplifies what I’m most afraid of. Glossier claims that its a all-in-one brow fluffer, filler, and shaper. After using it everyday since it arrived in the mail, I would agree. I also appreciate that it comes in a clear colour, my brows aren’t quite blonde or brown so clear is a safe substitute when buying online without testing the colour first.
Cloud Paint in Beam
Cloud paint is Glossier’s latest product and is probably the cutest in terms of the packaging, i.e. it looks like an actual paint tube. There are 4 colours, beam, haze, puff & dusk. All 4 are beautiful however I figured beam would best suit my pale complexion. The product does appear smaller than expected but only a little bit is needed to add colour to cheeks. Although applying the product is easy and fun, the colours are a bit limiting for someone as fair as me as they are very bold. This shouldn’t be an issue for the average person though.
Conclusion:
Glossier is really good at making products that are fun to add to your makeup and skin routine. I get excited to put on my balm every morning and pretend I’m an artist with my cloud paint. I’d definitely continue to purchase more products from them in the future.
