A while back, after a day of playing Pokemon Go (back when it just came out) I was bored and realised I was going back to university in one week. Every lead up to a new semester is always welcomed with my attempt to follow through with one thing that I planned to do before the holidays, e.g. take more photos, learn how to code (still haven’t), read more (sometimes) and sew something (work in progress). On this day I was determined to take some photos and do one thing as planned. So I did.
I was happy with the photos but I felt they lacked in something, so I pushed them aside for later. When I was in LA taking photos, I noticed how the lighting paralleled the lighting in the shots taken months earlier. Which brings you and I to the present. I’ve now found a post where these images from two very different locations can belong together and look pretty.
Both LA and Sydney provide a very rusty orange lighting that complements skin tones and flatters even the worst of our features. In my opinion, photos taken in this golden hour of sun are the prettiest. If you’re a public transport person like me, you’ll probably appreciate catching the train from 6:30 to 7:30 in the summer when the sun is at its peak. Whenever I do, I listen to Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon song and feel like I’m in a live action music video or a movie. For some reason this golden hour of light makes you feel like you’re a part of a creative masterpiece, drawing you away from reality. Almost as if you’re a character in a book who’s catching the train at dusk and feeling a sense of contentment for a brief moment. This feeling can also be experience when on a walk at this time of day.
Or maybe I’m just being a Pisces and living in my own world.
Emily 😀
